The Claremont Colleges consortium was established in 1925 and now comprises five undergraduate institutions—Pomona College, Scripps College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, and Pitzer College—along with Claremont Graduate University and Keck Graduate Institute. The seven colleges share a campus of roughly one square mile and serve approximately 8,500 students with a combined faculty and staff of about 3,600. The member institutions share resources through the Claremont Colleges Services including a central library system holding 3.4 million items, campus safety, health services, and dining facilities.

Each of the undergraduate colleges maintains its own academic identity and admissions process, while students across the consortium can cross-register in more than 2,000 courses. Pomona College ranks third nationally among liberal arts colleges, while Harvey Mudd is recognized as one of the premier engineering, science and mathematics colleges in the United States. Claremont McKenna College ranks ninth among liberal arts colleges, and Pitzer College was ranked first by the Princeton Review for making an impact and third for environmental sustainability.

For families in Claremont, the colleges create a distinctive community: student housing, academic events, employment opportunities, and the web of relationships that come with an educational institution. Protecting the financial stability of a household—whether through a mortgage, business ownership, or education savings—is where a term life policy fits most naturally into a family's broader planning.
